RS485 SE RIAL COM MU NI CA TIONS (OP TION)
System: Multi-drop, half duplex. May operate in Slave Mode (slave
address 1 - 32) or Master Mode (transmitting current setpoint
value to up to 32 controllers). Transmitting device drives lines to
appropriate levels; the outputs on each non-transmitting
device are set to a high impedance in order that other devices
may transmit.
NOTE: All in stru ments hav ing an RS485 se rial com mu ni ca tions fa cil ity
con form to the fol low ing stan dard:
1. Each trans mit ter must re lease the trans mis sion lines within 6ms of the last
char ac ter in a mes sage; de lays due to buff ers such as those in UARTs within
the mas ter de vice must be taken into ac count.
2. A trans mit ter must not start trans mis sion un til 6ms has elapsed since
re cep tion of the ast char ac ter of a mes sage.
B-8To avoid line con ten tion prob lems, en sure that all de vices
con nected to the com mu ni ca tions port on a in stru ment fol low the
same stan dard.
Data Format: Even parity, seven data bits and one stop
bit.
